Hyatt Ziva Cancun resort featured on JohnnyJet.com

(Last Updated On: January 31, 2017)

Thinking of traveling to Cancun? The all-inclusive resort, the Hyatt Ziva Cancun, is worthy of adding to your list! My blog post about this special place, posted on Johnny Jet’s website – johnnyjet.com, several months ago, will give you a full report on its rooms, restaurants and activities.

Me with a mojito!

What’s new since my visit?

When I was there last December, prior to the resort’s January 2016 Grand Opening, finishing touches were still underway on one of its towers, then called the Premium Tower. Now it has been named Turquoize and is like a resort within a resort. It’s the new adults-only, all beachfront tower that has its own check-in and reception area, direct elevator access to the spa, and exclusive access to Turquoize’s rooftop featuring the Punta Vista bar and an infinity pool.

Tradewinds restaurant in the Turquoise tower has opened since my visit, too. Described as a casual grill by day and a classic steakhouse by night, it is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The opening of the Dolphin Encounter that I mention in the post continues to be delayed.

  1. Ah, this is really so beautiful, Debbie. I’ve been in Cancun several times back in then 90s, but they’ve changed a lot since then. This Hyatt Ziva resort is something new for sure, I can’t remember seeing it then. I love the white sand and turquoise waters in Cancun, but to be honest with you, in light of what goes on in Mexico right now I wouldn’t dare to go back again.

    • Thank you so much, Anda, for commenting. This is a brand-new resort and you would love it there. There is no reason to hesitate about going back to Cancun. The U.S. State Dept. has never had a travel advisory for this part of Mexico. Cancun is part of the state of Quintana Roo, which also includes Riviera Maya, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Mayakoba, Akumal, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Aventuras, Cozumel, Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, and Xpu-Ha.

I felt totally safe being there, as well as when I went to Grand Residences Riviera Cancun resort a little over a year ago, in August 2015, and the Mayakoba Resort in Playa del Carmen in 2012. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. I think the media has made a lot of people unnecessarily afraid to go to the main tourist areas of Mexico.

The most recent Travel Warnings for Mexico, issued by the U.S. Department of State on April 15, 2016, can be found at this link: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/alertswarnings/mexico-travel-warning.html (Here is what it states about Quintana Roo: Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya and Tulum are major cities/travel destinations in Quintana Roo – No advisory is in effect…)
