New article: “Beaches and Beyond” Indiana Dunes article in AAA Home & Away

(Last Updated On: February 15, 2019)

Yes, my home state of Indiana has beaches! My article on the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and State Park entitled “Beaches and Beyond,” which showcases the beauty of Lake Michigan’s shoreline, was published in the Hoosier edition of AAA Home & Away magazine’s July/August 2017 issue.

In the future, I’ll be adding a Destination Page on the Indiana Dunes with more information about why you should put the Indiana Dunes area on your travel list. Until then, enjoy reading about this special area of the Hoosier state by downloading a PDF of my article here. (Update: The Indiana The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is Indiana’s top tourist attraction with 3.6 million visitors in 2018, and it has been named America’s newest national park.)

    • Yes, it’s a bit surprising to see beaches and large sand dunes in northern Indiana! There is a lot to see and do in the area, too!

  1. We live in Chicago and are all too familiar with how beautiful the beaches in nearby Indiana can be. The Indiana Dunes are a perfect day trip, only an hour away and you feel so far away.

    • So you are very familiar with the area if you live in Chicago! I know lots of Chicagoans cross the state line to go here. It’s like a world away and so different from the city!

    • Thank you, Marilyn! I agree. Every state has its wonders, and it was fun to discover this part of my home state for the first time.

  2. I was gobsmacked when I saw the beachfront in Chicago at the Lake Michigan. Never ever I’d imagined what can be done for the enjoyment of the public. I wasn’t aware that there is more of this. Also wildlife will be happy with the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and State Park.

    • Oh, yes! The beaches of Indiana Dune National Lakeshore and State Park attract many visitors from the Chicago area. There are miles of beaches and dunes to climb. I hope you will be able to visit this area sometime!
